Social Media Marketing Tip: Time Your Posts to Match Your Audience

Social Media Marketing Tip_ Time Your Posts to Match Your Audience

Start looking around, and you will find conflicting tips on when the best time to post social media content is: CoSchedule came up with these recommendations, but they don’t quite match these from Hootsuite.

So what should you do?

Consider who your audience is, when they are most likely to be using social media, and when they are using it to look for a business or content like yours. You may be closed on weekends, but that could be when your customers are doing research in their free time.

For example, several studies show that restaurants do best posting mid-day, though the day varies by social media platform. Facebook posts for restaurants perform best midweek from 1-3 p.m. or around 7 p.m. Tweets get the most traction around 1 p.m. on Fridays, as people make evening dining plans. (Source)

While you may want to focus more on the times you determine to be best for your particular audience (use Facebook’s Insights to see when your current followers and others are interacting with your posts most), don’t ignore other times of the day when there may be less competition for your content in the newsfeed.
