Quick Tip: 5 Keyword Opportunities on Every Page of Your Website

Every page on your website has the potential to attract visitors, especially through the use of search engines.

With more than 6.5 trillion (TRILLION!) online searches performed every day, and more than 4 out of 5 consumers conducting research online before they make a purchase decision, your website’s ability to rank high for your chosen keywords is a vital source of leads and customers.

Consider taking the time to review your site, page by page, to ensure that you are making the most of these 5 keyword opportunities located on each page:

  1. Page title: Don’t just use the title “About Us.” Include your brand name and some keywords. “JONES½ PR & Inbound Marketing Agency ½ About Us”

  2. Page URL: The URL should be similar to the page title and also include keywords. For example, don’t just give a product page the URL of “www.mycompany.com/product1.” Make the URL descriptive: “www.mycompany.com/all-in-one-SEO-software.”

  3. Page/meta description: Descriptions should be one short, declarative sentence that incorporates your keyword in some form; but your description should not just repeat verbatim the content you have on the page itself.

  4. Header: Incorporate keywords or long tail keyword phrases into the header and subheads. In addition to being among the places search engine crawlers look for clues about the purpose of your page, headers provide structure and improved readability.

  5. Images: Give your images descriptive names that include keywords, as well as providing alt text. Rather than “blogimage1.jpg,” use something along the lines of “blog-seo-tips.jpg.”
